British house label Más Tiempo has released “Qualified”, a brand-new single by Jammer, Zed Bias and Más Tiempo.
Más Tiempo, for the uninitiated, is the brainchild of grime legends and Boy Better Know mainstays Skepta and Jammer. As well as hosting a lineup of hugely popular parties, the imprint has released a series of well-considered and well received, on-point floor-fillers since its launch last year.
From deep cuts like last year’s “Touching my Body” by Skepta, Jammer and Etta Bond to more recent output such as Ossie’s Unstable EP, Más Tiempo continues to carve out a distinctive niche: hall-rocking hallmarks that instinctively hark back to house music’s original roots.
Packing a heavy punch with plenty of summer anthem portent, “Qualified” follows in the same stylish vein.
As Clash Music’s Rob Murray reported soon after “Qualified” dropped:
>> Sheer heat from start to finish, you can hear aspects of UKG’s supple low end, grime production techniques, and also pieces of afro-house.
Zed Bias notes: “This collaboration is a long time coming. I felt it as soon as I came in the studio. It felt like home”.
An extremely natural collaboration, ‘Qualified’ epitomises Mas Tiempo’s approach to both music-making, and the culture that lies behind it. Jammer explains: “When people make music and have a writer, there’s no depth to it. A&Rs just say, ‘Link that guy cos he’s popping and doing numbers’, but this collaboration is different. I’ve grown up on this man’s sound, and this is a whole new chapter for our music.” <<
